Happy Wednesday

tufted sofa massuco warner millerHello friends:

Some trends I like, some are just trends, they come and go.  Today's inspiration is a little bit of this and that.  Let me know which trend you like.

tufted sofa bella mancini designblack and white staircase style at home

  "Umbre"  trend.

  Paint some furniture "a la
Jackson  Pollock style",  so unique and easy to do, use a toothbrush, different all brushes and its done.

Its hard to open a magazine, or attend a flea market without seeing the latest trend, this...

I discovered this car from Sarah Wilson and Allen Hemberger, they worked on it for a while and this is the finish process.

Here are some of the details, first they found it on Craig's List. this guy was selling two furniture carts.

Then,

We know how the carts start:

Before refinishing:

The wood details after the bleaching and staining.

This is absolutely gorgeous, usually you pay $700.00  for one of these or more.  It is a lot of hard work but much cheaper,  great job guys.

This is my favorite trend, I can live with this in my Living room, it has character, beauty, a conversation piece, very few people have a coffee table like this, and it makes your home unique, and best of all YOU MADE IT, not Pottery Barn, or Restoration Hardware, YOU DID IT.

Love to all of you,

Something new

Hi friends:

Today is a new finds hunt day.  We love hunting for objects, furniture, pictures, anything others throw away, we love to bring home, friends, family and neighbors problably call us "hoarders" like on the tv show, but this is not true. We are recyclers of good junk, some of us use the furniture or items, some of us sell it on garage sales, the internet, or at flea markets. Some of us give the stuff to our families and friends who love antiques, retro, or vintage items. Some of us keep  everything because we love items with character, stories, good for our crafts, and because... We are all a community of people who love used items. I personally very seldom buy anything new, I don't like poor construction, and really why buy when you can get free????  or if you go to yard sales for very little.  My limit at these sales is $2,00. or free.  I post before that if you go towards the end of these sales, people are tired and they give it away, great tip for you. Some of these items live in our basements, attics, or in our homes.

It is a great way to recycle and, give new life to vintage and antiques.  Sometimes, not so old items.

I need to take some photos of this week new finds.
Here is our Tuesday inspiration, a short post today, girls, I have to run,
Heart Home Magazine A nice vignette with found items, pine cones, a milk bottle, a bunch of old books, and an old mirror, painted white.
Heart Home Magazine I bet you all have a french chair, our "trend" hemp sack pillow, a couple of old suitcases, the mannequin, a neat rug, and voila great corner.
Heart Home Magazinelove the white floors and the fireplace in the bedroom, so romantic.

Have a wonderful Tuesday friends,

Martha

Dear Friends and Moms:

What a beautiful thing to be a "Mom", when I think and remember my Mom (she is gone with the Lord) I tried to remember the happy times, some where going antiquing or junking together, she loved antiques.  Other times our rituals on Sunday dinner, this was so fun.
Another ritual was having coffee, sweets or homeday goodies around her kitchen table.

We used to go shopping to Home Depot and Macys a lot also.

I remembered my mom as to the best mom anybody could have, she was loving, honest,
a great wife, great cook, great homemaker, intelligent, well read, well traveled, dedicated to her two children and her husband.
I have a picture of both of my parents by my bedside, and everytime I look at the picture a new memory comes to mind, what a beautiful memory.
In this awful world full of inadequate parents, I'm always grateful for my mom.
Sometimes when I was a teenager I was mad at her, but I don't remember the bad times, only the good times.  My mom worked very hard to raise my brother and I, we didn't come from a rich home, however, she gave me "examples", actions, that money cannot give a child.
I will always remember you "mami"

Small Dreams, Big Dreams and Inspiration

Hello Dear Friends:

I received a few comments about the Pottery Barn red chairs, I don't know the color, I'm trying to find it, I just thought it was beautiful.  As soon as I find it I will post it for you.

I did a little survey of my handmade Custom drawer pulls and knobs that I make. Here are the results:

No. 1 choice from customers:

I have more than 100 original knobs and pulls, and about 70 tags.  I work very hard at making them, they take a few days sometimes weeks to design and make.  Customers told me they like some others
and I will post some pictures.

Now for our inspiration today:

RWM

I don't know about you, but I love doors, shutters, and windows.  I have a few waiting for some TLC
