A rainy day, and finishing a project

Here is the finished product.  It took about 4o roses, and a lot of love.
But it is done, and I think the bride will like it.

The Wedding wreaths and a tutorial

I finished the wedding wreaths, and I started on the next one, also I wrote a tutorial for you my friends, its not that hard, believe me. You can make one in about three evenings.

The bride chose gray satin ribbon to hung the wreaths, I think they came out nice!!! what do you think.

Next:
The roses wreath  (another story)



MATERIALS:

• a foam wreath as big as you want, mine are 12"
• an old book
• a hot glue gun
• scissors
• a pencil or magic marker
• a movie and pop corn  Ha ha ha!!! chocolate cake!!!!

STEP ONE:

Cut 15 strips of book pages 2" wide.  Wrap each one around the wreath to cover the ugly foam, you can use ribbon if you want.  Just glue the end,  DONE.

STEP TWO

Cut lots of squares from your pages 4 1/2"  by 4 1/2"  Make a pile.

STEP THREE

Draw a spiral pattern on the first three squares and cut the spiral.  It doesn't have to be perfect, about a 1/4"  but if you can't or make a mistake, don't worry, your rose will come out beautiful anyway.

STEP FOUR  *IMPORTANT"

Grab a pair of tweezers (this is what I do)  grab the end of the spiral and roll and roll your flower, don't let go until the fat circle at the end.  Don't let go too fast, just slowly and carefully let it go and you will see the most beautiful rose you have even made is magical.

STEP FIVE  

Glue, the fat circle and a few of the petals, whatever style you like, be careful not to burn, I do it all the time, but I'm getting better.  Now this is rose number one, place it in a pretty silver tray, ( I do) and observe your hard work!!!!

STEP SIX

Make about 10 to 15 roses and place on your pretty tray.  Start your first row on your wreath

STEP SEVEN

Try to glue your roses as close as possible.  You will need to do three rows, and you are done, about 45 to 50 roses.

STEP EIGHT

Glue a bit of ribbon on the back and make a bow or just leave it simply.  This wreath is so impressive that it doesn't need much decoration, just the roses.

STEP NINE

Hang it in your living room, bedroom, 

STEP TEN

You can spray a protective Krlyon matte from Michael's but I don't, I have mine wreath for about four years. Sometimes the protective spray might turn the paper darker, but it is okay because we want the wreath to look old.

Enjoy your wreath, lots of work but worth the effort.  Please make one and let me know how you like them.

Decorating with whites, a hard job!!!!!

Most of you love to decorate with whites, it is not easy, but so rewarding.  Here is some inspiration for future decoration. I'm working on it:

Designer Miller says, keep curtains soft and airy, these are made from a tablecloth, LOL the spoon chandelier!!!!

Hope you got inspired to add a lot of white to your rooms, and break it up with one furniture piece, and one soft color, you will love the feeling that the "whites" give your room.

Hello friends:


Cleaning continues, "Irene" really hit us hard, between lights, and trees down, everything takes a lot of time.  I don't know if any of you have been without lights for a long time, but not even "football" games can calm the anxiety of my neighbors.
Foxboro, Ma. (this is the town where the Patriots and Giants played last night)  the entire town is without power, water, since Irene landed here.  However, the stadium has lights because they get it from other places.  You can imagine the frustration of the residents.
I went to a little farm market yesterday in a neighboring town, and they didn't have power.  Most of the vendors were from the Cape Cod area.
We are very lucky to have the lights back, but you can't help to feel bad when 10 minutes from my house they don't have lights.


Priorities change after an experience light "Irene".


I hope you forgive me for writing so much about these issue, but I'm reminded everyday of this horrible Sunday.  I remembered watching a tree swinging back and forth on the side of the house, and waiting when it would land on the house, well it didn't but oh boy we were very very scared.


Thank the good Lord, we are safe here, but everything in my town changed, so many many beautiful trees are down, and they are beginning chopping and cleaning today.  Here are some pictures:




















In the middle of all of these, I worked hard on my wreaths for the wedding, they are all done and ready to go, I'm taking pictures today, and I will post them tomorrow.  I'm sending the bride extra rolls in case some of them become loose, She wanted gray ribbon, and they look beautiful.


I am now working on another request is my famous "roses" wreath, they are a bit harder to make, but they are worth it.  I'm also working on the small music ones for another very lucky bride.

IRENE in the East Coast

Hello friends:


Irene was here and we just got power, all day without power, watching the rain and the wind destroy trees for eigth hours. My first experience with this type of storm oh oh oh!!! Here are some pictures, lots of wind, and big big waves.  I hope everyone in blog land is okay.  We are just waiting until the high tide, and hopefully the end of the storm.

My family in Ct didn't have power all day, and it is now 8:30 PM. and they don't have their power back. They have a lot of can goods, water, and batteries, but I feel awful for them, they are 79 years old.


I pray for all of you who faced Irene today, a horrible storm.


I promise a fun post tomorrow, we need to eat and go to bed.
