OVER THE TOP

Hello Friends:

How are you?  Hope you are all grilling, watching fireworks, and singing patriotic songs. As I promised yesterday, I have the pictures of this house in my town that always does things "over the top"  bless their hearts, it takes them a long time to put the flag up, I mean hours. Their entire house is the flag, just awsome, here is the picture for you all
Amazing ha? I love it the flag is huge, and you cann't see the house at all.

Well, great American spirit in my town, tonight we had barbecue in the common by the beach, music and great fireworks. Tomorow there is a Vintage baseball game at the Derby Academy,  very old fashioned game, lots of fun.

I did a little painting, I will show you its not finish, but I'm getting there, the color is "lavender"

this little caddy is so cute, I had to decorate with it even thou I'm not done with the painting.

I could put little towels or soaps in the bathroom?

And this baby took me weeks to paint, each cubby hole and I think it needs more?  what do you think?   LOVE TO READ YOUR COMMENTS

I just put some of my new tags, but I like jewelry on the cubbies, or little trinkets I mean a collection of shells, or whatever, LOVE TO READ YOUR COMMENTS  PLEASE

Now, I used the famous "Chalkpaint" it took me three coats people, oh yes, and of course now comes the wax and distress.  However, I like it just as it is, but the "furniture gurus" will say I need to do the next step.  I mean I would like to protect the wood of course, but I love this color so much, that I'm afraid when you start with the distressing, waxing, etc etc. you take away the beautiful color.
Anyway, write and tell me what would you do???? I know you are out there, I read the furniture parties, and there are some expert painters in Blogland.
The sweet lady who mailed me the paint, God bless her send a one page recipe to do a table, a one page full of instructions it is beautiful, but I will never attempt it.

First of all, I used a very good brush, yes I did, no dollar store brush I used the good one. But that is all.I have paint from BM, SW, Home Depot, Lowes I'm telling you I have lots of paint, and no time to paint. So in the summer, we are going to paint.  In all fairness, I love that I just open the can and paint, no primer, no sanding, I just go for it.  I love it that covers and dries immediately, so second coat and perhaps three coats, my stuff is very old, and we are done.
I love it, fast, easy, done.   I have to make this can last for a while, its almost like my Robins blue BM color that I used for years, but much deeper, can you tell??????

love and blessings to all, tomorow is Sunday, Pray for America.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY USA

I was in Boston, yesterday and, today for meetings.  It was crazy, people, people, kids, and of course the city was all dressed up for the 4th.
The train was packed, standing room only, kids everywhere, parents, aunts, grandmas, with comfortable shoes, and ready to walk the small Bean town.

Well, after my meetings, I had to walk a few blocks, not short ones, long ones, ( I kept stopping to look at the shops and drooled), Neimas Marcus, Anthropology, boutiques, little french bistros, on and on.

Downtown Crossing is my favorite, but "Filenes Basement" is gone, so so sad, it was the biggest bargain around here.

Then, I found my favorite spot headed to Harvard Square to "Sweets"
and had one of their delicious cupcakes, and took the T headed home.

A few pictures for you to get in the spirit, I will take some more pictures of my decorations, (I got my antique flag on my front door) and, a few more things around here.

My newest addition to my shop an antique flag "drawer pull knob"  can you believe it?? I have a collection of the first flags of our country in pictures, including banners.  Pictures are coming... promise.

For now here is a little bit of Boston:
yum yum, look at these!!!!!
Certainly they go all the way out.

The Pops are my favorite, the end of course is magnificent.

The day begins with a flag-raising at 9am and a small parade that visits the Granary burial grounds (where many famous New England patriots of the revolutionary period were laid to rest) before gathering outside the old Historic State House. Situated on the corner of State and Devonshire St, in the days of British sovereignty the building was adorned with the golden Lion and Unicorn, symbolising British rule. This was torn down in 1776 and was not restored for historical purposes until the late 1880s due to the depth of anti-British feeling on the part of the New Englanders. It is from the balcony of the State House that the Declaration of Independence was first read and the tradition continues to this day.

The main festivities occur in the evening, when more than 300,000 people gather on the banks of the Charles River for a performance by the famous Boston Pops Orchestra at the Hatch Memorial Shell before ten acres of grass that is packed full every 4th July, with even more in the audience on the other side of the river and on a flotilla of boats in between. The evening climaxes with a thunderous firework display above the river.

Lionel Ritchie is the big star this year.

more tomorow,

proud to be an American

Yard sales, and more

When I got there, they decided to close, so I left.
Can you resist a yard sale, I just drove to the market, and there was one yard sale after the other one, easy, just drive and stop, I went to three, scored on the last one only.I mean I didn't pay for the stuff, I got it for free when they were putting in back inside, and complaining that people didn't buy much, oh well, it happened to me, you get up early, arrange the stuff pretty, price the stuff, put out the signs, by the time it starts, you are so tired. Then the crowd begin to arrive, they want the stuff for very little, or you get someone who really wants the best item you have, and they are nice, and pay what its worth.
Then the stuff that you didn't sell goes back inside again.
You count the money, and really maybe you made a few dollars, but by the hour you worked for maybe 50cents an hour, oh but its so much FUN, you meet nice people, hear all kinds of stories, make new friends, and share likes and dislikes of your "antiques"  diy, vintage, and then junk, returns, gifts that you didn't want etc etc.

Write me back with your experiences, I love to read comments.

I stopped at the next one, all in the same street, the stuff was mixed, not shabby enough for me, left again,

Well, the mantle was sweet, but another lady got it first, too bad.

I got there too late.

Juxtaposition is a cool shop in Los Angeles Ca.

Juxtaposition is one of the better stores for design, next time you go to Ca. don't miss it. Also go to the Rose Bowl Flea Market 2500 vendors, do you think we can find some goodness there, I'm on my way, added to the Dream board.
