Happy Saturday!!! Field trip to the Fresh Market

Happy Saturday friends,around here they have yard sale after yard sale, I have a summer cold, so I don't think I can go but you know how we are, perhaps, I'll feel better.

I got some pictures to share, one of the things I love is to put vignettes together. I try to have one or two in my home, not too many because then, it gets to be too much.

Well, my supermarket here decided to decorate a la shabby chic and they had a smart decorator put these vignettes together. Be aware that they are lots of vignettes around the store, so I just asked if I could take some pictures for you all.
This is the type of market that I just go for a treat, and, I worked hard this week on the blog, the furniture, the etsy shop, the house, the family, the laundry, the list is never ending that I decided to go and treat myself, because that is all you can do there, unless you have lots of money, they don't take coupons.

You want to know what I got, well, first a cup of amaretto coffee, some sushi,tasted cheese, and ice cream. I came home with some flowers, more sushi, and delicious cookies.yam yam

Here are the vignettes.

This is one of my favorites because I love instruments and music. I have a lot of very old family instruments,like the cello, a violin, a piano, and a flute.  but the picture is no good, sorry, I need to save my pennies to get a cannon soon.

THis is the same picture but I wanted you to know how high the vignettes are.

I'm sorry about the picture actually is one of my favorites, there are four trunks and they painted the globe on a distressed blue and they outlined it with chalkboard paint, really neat. I see if I can get another picture.

I cann't remember where this one is located, they have so many its hard to keep track, I didn't take pictures of all because I'm not feeling very well with my summer cold.

This one I love being a teacher  and I have the easel, the desk and the basket not the poster or picture

We;; I hope you enjoyed the pictures.  Next week make sure to follow my blog, because we are having the annual house tour in my town. Only six houses, they are very very old, I mean old, I saw the brochure. I don't know if they will let me take pictures, but they are magnificents.  I went last year, and I couldn't believe the renovations and how they kept the architecture to the period, but they look very up to date once you are inside. Stay tune, at least I will take pictures from the outside , just to see how old, some of them I was looking today on line and they are from the 1700, I love history and very very old homes, with the little doors, and low ceilings, and crooked floors, oh well, but I do like a modern bathroom , and kitchen , also a fireplace in the kitchen and in the master bedroom,  oh well one can dream,.

Love the chair  from Mes Belles at Etsy,details,details, notice the cording, tufting,brass buttons on the bottom, absolutely beautiful, this one is sold, but she has the green one for $$$$ , love this, its time to learn to reupholstery, however, she made this, you cannot tell, it looks professional. Her prices are reasonable compared to a professional upholstery company.

cgiebay  has Romania hand woven sacks  a few not too many.

In my humble opinion, and after talking to some wholesalers, they are overpriced here in the USA.  The ones that come from Europe, you really have to be careful, but if you take your time, they are deals at ebay, etsy, and all over blogland.
Perhaps you can get in touch with some of the bloggers from Europe, they are a lot of bloggers from Germany, Belgium, etc. not too many from France.  Be careful with the grain sacks from France, I know a dealer that spends six months in France and six months here, she brings them from the South of France, she buys them dirt cheap.  So, heads up.

New friends

A warm welcome to all my new friends, I hope you enjoy the blog and, leave me some "love" comments.

Speaking of comments and followers, blogger is having problems again, I can read the comments, but I saw some of the followers the other day, and tonight they are gone (pictures) again, are you having the same trouble????


Anyway, we are having a "heat wave" for us temperature in the 80's and 90' with humidity is very very hard.  They said, one more day, and relief will come on the weekend!!!!

Some more pictures of the great shelf, as you can see it is very chippy, I like it, but I thought of repainting it, but I am not sure.

If you can see the background of the picture, I have a french huge grain sack.
Its so thick and pretty, I don't want to destroy it to make a pillow or reupholster a chair.
I thought about it, but these sacks come from Germany, France, Hungary, Romania, Belgian.
I heard that the gypsies go to the farms, and bring them to the buyers, they sell them for very little money in Hungry, then here in USA are going for lots of $
Does anybody know anybody selling these beauties for less than $50.00 and up please let me know.

The final step

Here is the final step on my small drawer I painted with the chalk paint.
I first, applied the clear was, a very small amount with dollar store  brushes, (theirs are expensive for me right now)  then, I let it dry, and I applied the darker wax, a little at a time with another dollar store brush, then I wiped it out, left some, in, according to how it look.  I decided I wanted it a little darker, what do you think. I am not a painter at all. Everything is trial and error.  I painted a light blue, turquoise, MS kind of color, the name is Loui , then when I distressed it the original color showed up, it was white, and green, the same green that a lot of vintage furniture comes in.

I love it, it was easier than I thought, there are so many artists in blog line that paint so nicely that, I'm learning.

Try the paint, do what I did, just buy one can to see if you like it.
Personally, I have a lot of blue paint that I bought at Lowes, Home Depot, Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams, the list goes on and on.

Oh, I forgot, then I put my lacy knobs on it, to add a little something to the piece, I have three more to go.

I got the grain sack as a gift, never used it, its so beautiful, I couldn't afford them. I just thought the little gift tag goes with the grain sack.
