Special corners in our homes

Dear Friends:

Hope everyone is doing fine.  Today, I will show you

how to make your home cozy and different using your

collections, and everyday items.
Love cages, and we all have one or two. You can use them for so many vignettes, this is one idea.

Another inspiration is to use chalkboard paint in different places.  How about this?  sweet?
This is a cute bedside vignette, so homey and cozy.

We all have old books, a lamp, a bouquet of fresh flowers, and you make your house a home.Pinned Image
Make a display with an old spoon, a dried flower and a candle.
So sweet and special.

I'm obsessed

Hope you had a great Memorial Day Holiday.I am obsessed with coffee sacks. I love them and then I found these...

This beautiful cushions are made with coffee sacks, Viva Terra is an online store with some unique furniture.  Go here:http://www.vivaterra.com/catalog/product/view/id/10787/s/convertible-cage-lamp/category/303/

I love the coffee sacks, about a year ago a famous store for us DYI in the East Coast called Bldg. 19

really is a huge store that has all kinds of goodies for very little money.  Well, they had thousands of these sacks for 1.00 ea.  I was in heaven, some nicer than others, but I have never seen so many.
The owners of Bldg.19  get leftover from big stores and you can really score there sometimes.
Rugs and mattresses are very cheap, I'm talking oriental rugs and brand names mattresses.

Love this chair done with a coffee sack by http://adiamondinthestuff.blogspot.com/2012/05/burlap-coffee-sack-chair.html

This adorable rocker from here:http://www.designsponge.com/2010/08/before-after-ashleys-chair-marys-ikea-hacks.html
cute and inexpensive.

Now, this is a bit more fancy and so cute.  This chair is by
http://blog.moxii.com/tips/diy-coffee-bag-chair-transformation/

This site sells the coffee sacks, they list a phone number, I get mine FREE, I go sometimes to this tiny
coffee shop where the guy roasts his own beans and he buys them in Central America.  He thinks he sells gold, the cups are one size only and not cheap.  But, he once in a while gives me a sack or two, nice  guy, but I like Starbucks coffee, but believe me, they don't give the sacks to the public.  Now I just have to start upholtering,  oh what's that, it sounds HARD, I have never done anything like that.

Have you?   But this looks simple you just need a staple and the sacks, and voila you did it.

Make and display post.

You are talking with someone who is even afraid to use the DRILL, I'm slowly loosing the fear, but
not yet,, I'm making something that needs the help of a drill, so I'm learning.  I rather work with pencils and chalk, and kids.

One more picture I love:

This is talent so cute.  This site is http://hollypprojects.blogspot.com/2012/02/tweed-and-coffee-sack-chair.html

Write to me I want to know if you ever done something like this.

Have a wonderful day or evening, I'm going to make friends with my drill and
power saw,  its going to take a long time, but we need to make friends once and
for all, I don't want to depend on Mr. I want to do it.

Peace

Happy crafting, I'm almost done with the Moss covered letter, I'm putting the tutorial together for you, its a fun project, but I'm warning you, wear gloves, and go slow, its not a fast project, it takes time, but
\its beautiful, very earthy, and organic.

THANK YOU

Decoration Day

Sleep, comrades, sleep and rest
On this Field of the Grounded Arms,
Where foes no more molest,
Nor sentry's shot alarms!

Ye have slept on the ground before,
And started to your feet
At the cannon's sudden roar,
Or the drum's redoubling beat.

But in this camp of Death
No sound your slumber breaks;
Here is no fevered breath,
No wound that bleeds and aches.

All is repose and peace,
Untrampled lies the sod;
The shouts of battle cease,
It is the Truce of God!

Rest, comrades, rest and sleep!
The thoughts of men shall be
As sentinels to keep
Your rest from danger free.

Your silent tents of green
We deck with fragrant flowers
Yours has the suffering been,
The memory shall be ours.

Great news: Tutorial and make and display.

Hello friends and happy Saturday. I have to apologize some of you were looking for the tutorial at the bottom of the page, but I forgot to link this page, what was I thinking, this is what happened when you blog late at night. I was on a roll putting a few tutorials together, the videos, and other things that I make so you can make them also.  I don't mind sharing, but here it is, hope I link it right.  Oh, I'm also trying to go to some parties, be a bit more "out there" its not my style, but in blogland is a what you are suppose to do.

One thing you can do is before you start spray your pages with a sealer to make them stiffer, I didn't because my pages were good.  Also if you
like glitter, you can add it on the edges, but I don't like glitter that much, I like things organic, old, original, kind of things, the more "natural" the better.

I made the cute pinwheels and they are so cute, I wanted to share the tutorial with you.  I hung them on an old frame I painted, and added some lavender, just for fun.  I made some holes and threaded them kind of rustic and organic.  You can
hang them with the little clothespin, this is just how I did it.

Materials:

You need:  some book pages, ( I used some pages from an old book that is in bad condition)

You will need: scissors, the old glue gun, a ruler, small clothespins, ( I didn't have any, so I used a hole puncher, and made a hole on each one and thread it some old twine.  Your choice.

This is a simple tutorial:

First of all cut your paper into a square  4" by 4"

I am a visual learner, sorry
for my light in this picture, but here you will fold the paper into
the two triangles.

Now, we have two triangles.  Take the scissors and cut on each triangle line a little bit towards the middle.  You will cut four times.

Now you are ready to fold your first triangle and put a dot of hot glue in the middle, be careful, don't get burned.

Now, make the next fold and glue a dot in the middle.

And you are done, very easy and cute.
Now, you need to decide if you want to use the mini clothespins or run a ribbon or twine like I did.
Just make about seven of them and you will have a beautiful unique pinwheel banner that nobody
else has in their home, feel proud and "make and display"  you are a star.  If you make one please
send me a picture and I will feature in my blog.  A great idea is to make one for "Memorial Day"
red, blue, and white, I am motivated and might do one for the barbecue on Monday,

I hope you enjoyed the tutorial, and try it.

Blessings,

Martha

Display your flowers  on this beautiful mason jar
Display fresh flowers in this vintage inspired blossom vase. It features chippy paint and a frog lid to hold the blossoms in place. 7.75

I've always wanted to have an old screen door/window to display jewelry on. I'd paint it a cool color and add some small knobs for hanging necklaces. Oh, and remember to get some jewelry to put on it.

A window as a jewelry display, so cute.
